Greetings fleet commanders, today we’re looking at the Star Wars Armada CR-90 Corvette. The Star Wars Armada starter set included one of these small fast corvettes for the rebels and this expansion pack allows you to add more to your Rebel fleet. Currently the smallest ship in the game, she’s also the fastest. The Imperial equivalent is planned for Wave II with the Imperial Raider, but for now, this is the king of speed in the game. Even then, no one knows for certain if the Raider can match the CR-90’s speed and maneuverability.
Small, fast, and with a some ability to dictate the range of a fight, the Star Wars Armada CR-90 Corvette is a solid skirmisher to antagonize the larger, slower Imperial ships or provide some screen against a bombing run by TIEs. Light on points, they’re an easy addition to a force, particularly if you plan to leverage activation strategy against your opponent. Individually, the CR-90 is out-gunned by every other ship in the game, but that is predicated on maneuvering for a solid shot and with her speed and turning radius; she has a good chance to dictate the basis of the engagement and the available shot.
If all else fails, they make a hell of a battering ram. From Fantasy Flight’s Star Wars Armada site:
“The first starship to appear in the classic Star Wars trilogy, the CR90 Corellian corvette is a small capital ship of roughly 150 meters that featured prominently in the Rebellion, largely due to its versatility. Often referred to as “blockade runners,” CR90 corvettes can be outfitted to slip through Imperial blockades, haul cargo, serve as trooper carriers, or engage Imperial ships in battle.
You can add one of these versatile starships to your Rebel fleet for Star Wars: Armada with the CR90 Corellian Corvette Expansion Pack. The expansion comes with one pre-painted miniature CR90 corvette, one command dial, all requisite tokens, and ship cards for both the CR90a and CR90b configurations. Additionally, eight upgrades allow you to equip your corvette for battle, including the commander card, Mon Mothma, and the Tantive IV title card.”
Overall it’s a good pack with some useful upgrades for rest of your fleet and any Rebel Fleet Commander would do well to pick up a couple of them for their fleet.
Have fun out there and see you amongst the stars, Commander!
